CT Part 1

Finally getting around to posting about CT and Matthew and Hillary's wedding...  This is part 1-pre wedding stuff :)

The night we arrived, we went to watch one of Matthew's final parades at the academy: the sunset parade.  It was for all the seniors who would be graduating later that week.  A closing of a very long, strenuous chapter in their lives.  They had to do this ALL the time so were thrilled to be done!

Just love this pic of my little man.  Davis said he wanted to be in the Coast Guard one day like Uncle Matthew.

So proud of their Uncle Matthew
Monday morning, Matthew gave us(Matt and I plus Thomas and Amberly) a special tour of the academy.  We got to go into Chase Hall(were the guys live all 4 years) and visit some of the classrooms.  So neat!  They only allow visitors a couple times a year for a couple hours each time.

Ship Simulator.  SO COOL!  That's San Diego we were navigating around.  They can change cities and crank up the waves.  Incredible!
We went to tour the USS Nautilus and the Submarine Force Museum that afternoon.  I remember touring a submarine as a child and really enjoyed it.  Couldn't wait to share this experience with Davis and Haley.  They really enjoyed it though Davis was a little anxious and ready to get off.

Davis was climbing down and Haley said, "You're doing a great job Davis.  I can do it myself.  I'm 2 1/2".  Davis quickly replied, "Be quiet Haley" as he nervously got down the steps.

Um no way would I want to sleep in there deep underwater!  One of the rooms slept 10!

This guy is in the Navy and is stationed at the submarine base here.  Just got back from a 93 day underwater deployment.  Crazy!

In the museum
Matthew had his last black tie formal ball Monday night. Mama Lu, Opa and Thomas joined the Masalin's(Hillary's family) in the fun.
All dressed up.
Then, Wednesday morning Matt kept the kiddos(best husband ever!) and we went to Matthew's graduation.  Unfortunately the ceremony was moved inside because of rain(and delayed 1 hour!) but it was very nice

We took a couple kayaks out in the water.  Very peaceful and relaxing.  I love water!  Davis and Haley went out with Matt and I too and loved it.

This part of our trip was so much fun. Loved seeing where Matthew has been for the past 4 years and was so happy to go to his graduation.
Love, Nana
