Another get together

Suzanne and I packed the kiddos in the car yesterday morning and headed to a baby shower for a coworker/friend of ours. Unfortunately, she delivered her baby at 31 weeks, and he has been in our NICU for a month now. However, he is a little champ and is going great! Just hit the 4lb mark! Keep fighting Peyton!

We all joke that NICU nurses have prenatal issues and end up with babies in the NICU, but it has very much been the case recently. A large group of us were pregnant together this past year and almost every single one of us had preterm labor. We got brethine, bags of IV fluid, etc. Standing on our feet all day for 12 hrs is part of the problem. That and the fact the we work in a busy, fairly stressful environment.

Davis was 4 weeks early, but he was perfect! So thankful that his lungs were fully mature! That's the last thing to develop and its hit or miss at 36 weeks 0 days. Some babies are great and others need a cannula or CPAP and on a rare occasion the vent. Plus the whole "wimpy white boy syndrome." The black girls statistically do best, followed by white girls, black boys, and then white boys. Whenever we're admitting a very early preemie, we ask the race and gender. Very important in our world. Obviously, there are variations to the rule but it very often proves to be true.

Thought for the day...Why do British people never sound British when they sing?? Idol on Fox tonight 9pm.
